Mitre 10, your ultimate local hardware destination, not only offers an extensive selection of building and renovating essentials but also boasts an impressive array of products including household appliances, cleaning solutions, and outdoor furniture.
The Problem
Given the diverse range of product categories, spanning from outdoor furniture to power tools, it was evident that Mitre 10's category landing pages suffered from a lack of consistency. The absence of a defined wireframe resulted in confusion regarding content placement, leading to a somewhat disorganized and incomplete appearance. To rectify this, the implementation of a comprehensive wireframe and content guidelines became essential in bringing structure and cohesiveness to these pages, ultimately harmonising the entire website.
Before
The flow of the category landing pages was disrupted, primarily due to overly complex product headings that resulted in confusion for the users. Furthermore, the subcategories on these pages lacked proper organisation and exhibited inconsistent formatting. The absence of well-defined boundaries for page elements led to unclear sections and a lack of visual hierarchy.
Final Design
Through a thorough analysis of multiple category landing pages, I identified recurring elements and sections. Based on these findings, I developed a wireframe that serves as a blueprint for the redesign. The implementation of this wireframe has resulted in clearly defined sections, establishing a structured hierarchy that greatly enhances the user flow and navigation within the interface. As a result, the refined design not only improves usability but also reinforces a stronger and more impactful brand presence.
